In the early hours on June 6th 1944, 52 C-47 transport aircraft took off from  RAF Ramsbury  to join in the invasion of Normandy.

The 437th Troop carrier division transported troops of the US 82 nd Airbourne Division from our little airfield ½ mile south of the village over the sea to war ravaged France, many were doomed never to return…

June 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-day invasion and  here in Ramsbury we would like to be bring the village together and commemorate this historic occasion and remember our Wiltshire village at war.

We have lots planned, so please keep eyes peeled for event updates on the website & on social media.
